Of Connections and Structures

We now have DSL at home. Sure it’s PLDT, but so far we’ve had uninterrupted service since, uhmmm, yesterday. The download speed is slower than the upload speed (which according to the guys who installed it is not the norm) but the speed is still tolerable. Plus we’ll be filing a complaint on Monday, so there. I’ve already downloaded four tracks from Limewire—two remixes of Bob Sinclair’s “Love Generation,” the Ralphi Rosario’s remix of the Pussycat Dolls’ “Don’t Cha” and Sean Paul’s “Temperature.”

And since I’m using a Mac, for the first time I can now view the pictures in Marlon’s LiveJournal (obviously he’s a Mac user too). My gulay, and all this time I thought I was the only one who couldn’t get what Marlon’s been posting online.

* * * * *

This morning I was told I “needed structure.” Okay, that’s not exactly the first time I heard that about me. In fact I think the first time it was a Jesuit priest who told me that. But when someone tells you that amidst blaring house music, while you’re trying to get your bearings because you’ve had a few drinks already but there you are holding a beer bottle that’s still three-fourths full... and that someone says he read that in my aura, well, then that message kinda jolts you, like getting slapped in the middle of a crowded dance floor.

So there I was in the second floor of Bed, beer in hand, mind fuzzy with alcohol but still trying to think things through: no wonder I find comfort in routine. Still I love being impulsive—I’m Mr. Kaladkarin with my friends. Maybe I need a life that’s more structured. Maybe I should enter the priesthood. And maybe I’d be in the company of guys only day after day. Now that’s an original thought. Or maybe I can join the army or navy. Oooh, the navy! All those seamen! How about the air force? Maybe there I’ll meet my future wingman-for-life. Hehehe.

Wait a minute. Maybe “need structure” means I need to… gasp, build a structure! Oh my, I’ll be a construction worker! I should start eating more rice than viand, staying under the sun for long stretches, and—oooh! I like this last one—walking while holding hands with my fellow construction workers. Ah yes. Pang “er”-beauty lang nga ang beauty ko. Sigh.

Comments:
high speed internet + music lover = high electricity bill & overstuffed hard drive

it's a slippery slope. then, it's tv episodes, then movies...

xanderKhan!

Nah, I'm not a big fan of downloading music for free on the internet. It's usually just the dance remixes that I download cuz I know I'll get tired of them eventually.

hehe... I almost forgot that I told you those "-er" stuff while being intoxicated. :) nonetheless, it's just a logic of sort to have told you that mr.impulsive. ;D but don't get me wrong: structure-building is not a negation of relying to impulse, dapat complementary.it will come mon ami. il va arriver

REMINGDOY RAND: Hahaha, don't take what I wrote down too seriously. I'm just comically riffing off what you said.

But yes, I agree with you about impulse and structure being complementary. :-)
